Aww. Lookit Warbot in Accounting‘s own Zack Finkyfrocky debut as Crewman Anderson on The Crew.

Why, I can remember when Zack was just a wild-eyed youngster with big dreams and no idea what rights and compensation he signed away when I took him in for Warbot.

I mentioned this on the Twitter, but Marvel is creating a new title called, dear god I can’t believe I’m typing this, Marvel Divas aimed at the mysterious other sex. It’s Sex and the City + Marvel = “Girls like the Sex and the City, right?”

I mean, had they done this when Sex and the City was remotely topical years ago, it would still be an obvious and cynical grab at a market share these execs consistently demonstrate complete ignorance of, but at least it would have appeared to be a half-way savvy one.

But now? Really? Why not Three’s Company? Probably couldn’t figure out who the Marvel Mr. Roper is.

I can’t decide if Marvel should be more or less embarrassed about how clueless this makes them look than the time they heard girls like make-up.

Who makes these decisions? Okay, accountants, I know. But why do they think it’s still 1960?

I have a crazy idea for you, Marvel. It’s just like (I can’t type this out again, I’m going to copy and paste it) Marvel Divas without the goddamn Divas part. It’s the same four characters who team up and kick ass and you do not take time in every goddamn fight for the villain or mooks to be agog over how unlikely it is that they’re actually losing to a bunch of goils! For pages that aren’t fights, show how their superhero lives impact their relationships with their friends, their families, their own internal personal lives, and their professional ambitions. Y’know. Like every single other title you publish. Only with the cheesecake turned off. Which, honestly, you should do for your other titles too. But I know you’re already hyperventilating. We’ll take this one baby step at a time.

Team Robo is in super crunch time to meet our deadline for the second issue of the third volume — first issue hitting stores next Wednesday, pick it the hell up — so unfortunately the next 8-bit page has been delayed. I hope you can forgive me.

In the meantime, the second Warbot in Accounting has gone live. It’s a short one this time, but we’ve got something downright epochal planned for the next update. That’s right. We’re going to skip epic and hit epoch. They’re basically the same, only one sounds different and has a radically different meaning.

This one is for everyone who bookmarked /latest.php so they could get straight to the comic action and are now staggering in the wilderness of the new site design calling out for a static URL to bookmark so they can find their way:

Check out the URLs on those big buttons on the right. Y’know, the ones that I will repeat here for 8-bit Theater, Warbot in Accounting, and Atomic Robo. My suggestion would be too use those static URLs that point to the latest comics.

Oh, don’t feel bad for missing it, everyone did. I’m just jerkin’ you around for no reason. Judging by the volume of e-mail on this subject, I figured it was something that needed to be addressed for the public at large.

There’s also the RSS feed which, near as I can tell, is a thing you click if you’re too lazy to click on things. I don’t begrudge RSS, I just don’t understand the point. It strikes me as something for people who hop into their car for a drive to the grocery store only to sit there in the driveway saying, “You mean I have to turn the key?” And then they starve to death.

If you’re in the Boston area this weekend, you should visit the Boston Comic Con. Many fine comic book professionals will be there, among them Atomic Robo‘s very own Scott Wegener (they don’t check credentials I guess). He will sell you comics, T-shirts, and sketches. Drop by and prove to him that 8-bit readers aren’t the ugly jerks he thinks they are.

I added the above paragraph so this post wouldn’t be 100% self-serving. Though technically Scott’s success also impacts my success, so actually this post is now 110% self-serving.
